Bands > Sonny Moore > Biography

Sonny Moore is a name you're probably familiar with, whether it's from his days fronting From First To Last or recently doing his own thing. Sonny was born into an adoptive family in Los Angeles, California on January 15, 1988. He picked up his first guitar at the age of 12, and the rest is history. He formed his own band called "At Risk", which didn't last very long, but he was the vocalist and guitarist. He met Matt Good through MySpace when he was 15, and shortly after, Matt invited him to join From First To Last as their new guitarist. It wasn't until the band heard him sing "Featuring Some of Your Favorite Words" that he became their new frontman.

After that, things took off quickly. From First To Last released Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has A Body Count in June 2004, followed by Heroine in 2006, and both were followed by extensive touring. The band quickly grew an extensive fan base and even did a few international tours. Sonny struggled with a nodule on one of his vocal chords and had to drop out of the 2006 Warped Tour to have it removed, and has since been extra cautious with the care of his voice.

As a shock to everyone, Sonny left FFTL in February of 2007. He announced, however, that he would continue to make music as a solo artist. Shortly thereafter, he put up a demo of one of his new songs. Although extremely different from what he did in From First To Last, his fans seemed to love the new "techno-ish" sound. Sonny continued releasing new demos of songs and recruited live band members Sean Friday (drums), Chris Null (guitar) and Danny Sternbaum (programming/synths). The four set out on a small winter tour starting in November 2007 and ending in December of the same year.

The new year also brought a few changes. Sonny announced that Aaron Rothe, ex-keyboardist of Drop Dead, Gorgeous, would be joining Sonny's live act as the keyboardist. It was also announced that Sonny would be on the bill for the 2008 AP tour, joining The Matches, The Rocket Summer, All Time Low and Forever the Sickest Kids all around the US. The tour kicked off in March and ended on May 2.
