If you like to keep a clean home then some of the items you’re going to need to clean at least monthly will be your furniture. While furniture cleaning can seem a daunting task because most pieces are large and formidable the truth is it’s fairly simple to do. You really have no reason to fear furniture cleaning. Probably the simplest task is wood furniture cleaning. For the most part you just need to dust regularly; however, there will be times when you need to polish your wood furniture. You likely have a lot of wood furniture, more than you’d think, anyway. If you keep your wood furniture well dusted it will keep your house cleaner (and will get rid of dust and other allergens). On top of dusting you’re going to want to clean surfaces using products like Murphy’s Oil Soap which will get more dirt and grime off of more commonly used wood surfaces like your table.
Not only are you going to need to dust your wood furniture part of your furniture cleaning routine will be to polish your wooden furniture. By polishing your wood furniture you’re going to make it far easier for your next round of dusting. Most polishing products create a layer to protect wooden surfaces from dust sticking.
Fabric Furniture
Fabric furniture cleaning is a little more complicated than cleaning wood or even glass furniture because many fabrics soak up any spills. Avoid having any liquids on or near a couch or sofa that has a cloth lining. To keep substances like dust, dead skin cells and hair from building up on your fabric furniture vacuum each item at least twice a month. If you have a light colored couch that shows stains there are various furniture cleaning products that will help pull out the stain so your white couch will stay white.
Outdoor Furniture
Your outdoor furniture is another important element to keep in mind when you’re thinking about furniture cleaning. After the winter many deck chairs need a good deep cleaning. Most outdoor furniture is waterproof so you could either spray off your chairs with a hose or use a bucket and sponge. If you need better furniture cleaning solutions for your outdoor furniture try using an environmentally friendly soap that won’t kill your lawn (or harm any animals in the vicinity) which can be found in nearly all stores or online.
Furniture cleaning is just another step to take to ensure the rest of your home looks clean and presentable. Your furniture is an important part of your home because it’s likely used the most.
