BD: Bandictionary
Y: Yelle
BD: How did you get started in music?
Y: I have been singing since I was born! Actually, my father is a professional singer, so I spent a lot of time singing with him.
BD: Who are your musical influences?
Y: I love pop music in general, with lots of faces of pop: rock, rap, electronic... I love Daft Punk, Metric, Rihanna, Chris Isaak, and so many artists who know how to make wonderful pop songs!
BD: What kinds of things inspire you, non-musically?
Y: Life, sex, friends, boys, parties...
BD: How important has the Internet been as far as gaining new fans?
Y: The Internet is the most important way for me to gain fans, it's crazy!
BD: What is a typical day like for you?
Y: I wake up, take a shower, drink some tea and eat bread, and go to photo sessions, interviews, sound checks and then the concert! Then, it's partying, more tea, and I go to bed!
BD: Do you have any type of message or something you want the crowd to bring away from your live show?
Y: Party and energy! I don't have a political message or anything else, just fun!
BD: What sort of difference do you hope to make with your music?
Y: I want to make put a lot of different influences into pop songs with my personality, with fun, colors, and cool things.
BD: How would you describe your album in one word?
Y: Booty-pop!
BD: Which one of your songs would you call your favorite?
Y: Maybe "Les Femmes" or "Tristesse/Joie".
BD: If you could see any band in concert, who would it be?
Y: Rage Against the Machine!
BD: What do you think makes your music unique?
Y: Maybe the fact that it is modern and fresh music in French for clubs, but also for concerts and your bedroom!
BD: What are some of your goals for the future?
Y: To make people happy to listen to my music!
BD: Are you superstitious at all?
Y: A bit, yeah. :)
BD:If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
No more disease. ★
