Josephine Collective Interview
Sarah interviewed Josephine Collective a while back and here it is. It's a bit short, but you can head on over to Musical Mischief to see the rest!
BD: Who or what inspired you to start making music?
Damon: My older brother.
Martin: My uncle, my friend Mike, and Blink-182.
Jared: Third Eye Blind.
BD: What is something you want everyone to know about Josephine Collective?
Dillon: (We're) a great bunch of guys playing a great deal of great music. It's great.
BD: Do you think it's important for bands to connect with their fans offstage?
Alex: Of course - that's a huge part of what makes this job so kick ass, connecting with people.
Damon: It's crucial.
BD: Is there a story behind the Josephoenix (the bird logo)?
Damon: My nickname is Phoenix for funny reasons. We wrote a song dubbed "The Phoenix" which later was titled "Pray for Rain"... so with all the phoenix crap we decided to have a sweet phoenix.
BD: What are you most proud of?
Alex: Dali.
Colby: Freedom.
Dillon: My ability to survive day-to-day so I can continue to do what I love.
BD: What is the weidest thing that has ever happened to you while on tour with JC?
Alex: We performed a band heist in Jersey.
Damon: Suppositories.
BD: What was it like making the music video for "Living"?
Damon: Awkward.
Jared: Exhausting and fun.
Martin: I just ate food and smoked cigarettes all day. Then at the end of the day, we played the song ten times in a row.
BD: Describe John Feldmann in three words.
Damon: Intense, funny, scrumtulescent.
Dillon: Holy fucking shit.
BD: If you could make your own tour, what bands would you want to see tour together?
Martin: The Beatles, At the Drive In, Blink-182, and Neil Young.
Alex: The Police. The Zep. (Led Zeppelin)
BD: Josephine Collective has a YouTube channel called Josephineboys which features videos you guys make while on tour. You guys do a lot of skateboarding on that - if this band doesn't work out, do you think you'll go pro?
Damon: No, I suck at skateboarding, it's just for fun.
Jared: That's why I do music. I couldn't do that, I'm not good enough. ★
